What Is the Subdomain (Domain) Field During Onboarding?

When setting up your Blitz Rocket account, you'll be asked to enter a subdomain during the onboarding process. This can be confusing if you're not sure what to enter or what format is required. This article explains what the field is for and how to fill it in correctly.

What Is a Subdomain?

Your subdomain is the unique part of your Blitz Rocket URL. It identifies your account and is used to access your Blitz Rocket dashboard and public-facing pages. It typically looks like this:

yourname.blitzrocket.com

In this example, yourname is the subdomain.

How to Choose a Subdomain

  • Use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens (e.g., my-brand or janesdance).
  • No spaces or special characters are allowed (no underscores, dots, or symbols).
  • Keep it short and recognizable — ideally your brand name or creator handle.
  • It must be unique — if the subdomain is already taken, you'll need to try a different one.

Common Reasons a Domain Might Not Work

  • Already taken: Someone else is using that subdomain. Try adding a number or variation (e.g., janesdance2).
  • Invalid characters: Make sure you're not using spaces, capital letters, or special characters.
  • Too long: Keep your subdomain reasonably short. Very long strings may be rejected.
  • Starts or ends with a hyphen: Subdomains cannot begin or end with a hyphen character.
