Campaign Overview

DMoose sells fitness equipment and health products online. For the 2021 New Year, it ran a Blitz Rocket campaign on giveaway.dmoose.com called New Year New You. The page headline was "Start your year with a win!", and the offer underneath was the "Ultimate Fitness Giveaway Bundle," a prize worth $1,000 pitched at people setting fitness resolutions.

The campaign opened on December 4, 2020 and closed at 11:59 PM EST on January 5, 2021, covering the run-up to the New Year and its first week. It collected 4,171 sign-ups; the campaign did not require email confirmation. The page recorded 60,532 page views, and entrants logged 2,428 bonus action completions, most of them follows across seven social platforms.

Campaign Strategy

The prize and the timing were built around the same idea. The page told entrants "there is no turning back from your resolutions" and framed entering as "the first step towards your new journey." The prize was DMoose's own equipment, so winning meant being kitted out for the goal the entrant had just set. Three places were on offer:

  • 1st place: DMoose gear worth $1,000.
  • 2nd place: $500 worth of DMoose gear.
  • 3rd place: a $100 gift card.

Entry took an email address, and the page then pointed entrants to bonus actions for extra entries and to sharing for more. The 11 bonus actions fell into three groups:

  • Follow DMoose everywhere (200 pts each): Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and TikTok, 1,400 points in total.
  • Engage on Instagram: like the post and tag three friends (400 pts) and share the post to your story (200 pts).
  • Create content: upload a video (300 pts) and upload an image tagging DMoose on Instagram (200 pts).

Completing every action was worth 2,500 points. The campaign also set a Grand Prize reward at 100 points and a VIP Tier at 500 points.

Viral Mechanics & Growth Engine

Each referred friend earned 400 points, level with the most valuable action on the page and double a standard follow. Alongside referrals, the like-and-tag action was the main outward-facing mechanic: 209 entrants liked the post and tagged three friends, putting the giveaway in front of up to 627 people in the comments, and 177 shared it to their Instagram story.

The follow actions did most of the work. Facebook was the most-completed with 562 likes, followed by 447 Instagram follows, 369 YouTube subscriptions and 344 Pinterest follows. TikTok (149) and LinkedIn (146) sat in the middle, and Twitter drew only 4 completions, far below every other channel.

Content creation was the weak point. An image upload earned the same 200 points as a follow and a video only 100 more, and the two drew 10 and 11 completions. With the same points available for a single click, few entrants took the harder route.

Results & Impact

  • 4,171 sign-ups over 33 days, with no email confirmation required.
  • 60,532 page views on the campaign page.
  • 2,428 bonus action completions across 11 actions.
  • Top actions: 562 Facebook likes, 447 Instagram follows, 369 YouTube subscriptions and 344 Pinterest follows.
  • 209 like-and-tag completions and 177 Instagram story shares.
  • 21 pieces of user content: 11 videos and 10 images.

This was DMoose's only campaign on the domain. It turned the New Year window into 4,171 sign-ups and new followers on seven platforms, with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest each adding more than 300.

Why This Strategy Works

New Year is one of the few moments when a fitness brand's whole audience is already thinking about getting in shape. A giveaway in that window does not have to create interest; it only has to catch it. By offering $1,000 of its own gear, DMoose made the prize a direct answer to the resolution, and the three places gave people a reason to keep collecting points through the holidays.

The follow-everywhere action list is the other half. At 200 points a channel, it asked entrants to connect with DMoose on every platform it used, and the completions show which ones its audience actually responds on. For any fitness, wellness or self-improvement brand planning a January push, a resolution-timed giveaway with its own product as the prize is the template worth copying.

Key Takeaways

  1. Time the giveaway to your customer's own deadline. Running from early December to January 5 caught people while they were setting resolutions.
  2. Make the prize the tool for the goal. $1,000 of fitness gear is exactly what a resolution-maker needs to get started.
  3. Offer runner-up prizes. The $500 and $100 prizes for second and third place gave more entrants something to aim for.
  4. Drop channels that do not respond. Twitter drew 4 completions against 562 for Facebook.
  5. Price content actions for the effort. Video and image uploads earned little more than a follow and drew 21 completions between them.
  6. Require email confirmation when the list is the goal. Without it, the 4,171 sign-ups include addresses nobody verified.
