Campaign Overview

Plum BodyLovin' is the bath and body line from Plum, the beauty brand behind plumgoodness.com. In June 2020, before the first products went on sale, Plum ran a Blitz Rocket campaign on contest.plumbodylovin.com to introduce the range. The page opened with a question, "When was the last time you admired that FABbody of yours?", then announced "a new line of vegan bath & body plums" tagged #ComingSoon, and promised "a giveaway where everyone wins."

The campaign ran for five days, from June 18 to June 22, 2020. 16,711 people signed up and 8,680 of them confirmed their email, giving 8,680 confirmed entrants. The page recorded 188,842 page views, and entrants logged 4,299 Instagram follows and 3,319 Facebook likes along the way.

Campaign Strategy

The core decision was to replace the prize draw with guaranteed, points-based rewards. The page called them "assured wins": anyone who reached a threshold got the reward, with no luck involved.

  • 500 points: a Rs. 200 Plum BodyLovin' coupon code.
  • 1,500 points: a Rs. 500 Plum BodyLovin' coupon code.
  • 3,000 points: a Plum BodyLovin' gift hamper worth Rs. 1,500, delivered to the entrant's door.

Both coupons were redeemable on plumgoodness.com, so the two lower tiers worked as a discount on a first order, and the top tier put a full hamper of the new line in the entrant's hands. For a range nobody had tried yet, rewards made of the product itself fit the goal: they give the audience a reason to try it.

The page summed up entry in "3 easy steps": sign up, follow Plum on Instagram and refer friends. The full list of ways to earn points was short:

  • Confirm your email: 10 pts.
  • Social follows: follow on Instagram (250 pts) and like on Facebook (50 pts).
  • Bonus action: repost the campaign image on Instagram (10 pts).
  • Referrals: 50 pts for every friend referred.

Viral Mechanics & Growth Engine

The point values made referrals the only route to a reward. An entrant who confirmed their email and completed every action had 320 points, short of the first 500-point tier. Reaching it took at least four referrals, the Rs. 500 coupon took at least 24 and the Rs. 1,500 hamper at least 54. Each tier asked for a bigger circle of friends, and the "everyone wins" promise gave those friends a reason to join.

Instagram was the priority channel, and the values showed it. The Instagram follow was worth 250 points, half of the first tier on its own, and it was the most-completed action with 4,299 follows, equal to roughly half the confirmed entrant count. The Facebook like, at 50 points, drew 3,319 completions.

The bonus repost told entrants it would "increase your chances of winning a hamper worth Rs. 1,500," but it was worth 10 points and the hamper was a guaranteed 3,000-point reward rather than a draw. It drew 205 completions, the fewest of the three actions.

Results & Impact

  • 16,711 sign-ups, of which 8,680 confirmed their email (52%).
  • About 3,342 sign-ups a day across the five-day window.
  • 188,842 page views on the campaign page.
  • 4,299 Instagram follows and 3,319 Facebook likes, the two most-completed actions.
  • 7,823 bonus action completions in total, including 205 Instagram reposts.

This was the only Plum BodyLovin' campaign on the domain. In five days it gave the new line a confirmed audience of 8,680 people, thousands of new social followers and a reward structure that pointed every active entrant at the store.

Why This Strategy Works

A launch has a problem a normal giveaway does not: nobody knows the product yet, so a chance to win it is worth little. Plum BodyLovin' solved that with certainty. A guaranteed coupon at 500 points is easy to value, and because it is spent at Plum's own store, every reward doubles as a trial offer. "A giveaway where everyone wins" is the whole pitch in one line.

The tier structure then turns that certainty into reach. With actions capped at 320 points, the only way to a reward ran through friends, and each friend arrived to the same promise. For any beauty, personal care or DTC brand launching a new line, a guaranteed-reward ladder paid in store credit is the template worth copying.

Key Takeaways

  1. Guarantee the reward when launching something new. "Assured wins" at fixed thresholds removed the lottery and gave every entrant a target.
  2. Pay rewards in your own store credit. The Rs. 200 and Rs. 500 coupons were redeemable on plumgoodness.com, so each one invited a first order.
  3. Put your highest action value on your priority channel. The 250-point Instagram follow was the most-completed action on the page.
  4. Set tiers so referrals do the heavy lifting. Actions topped out at 320 points, so every reward required bringing in friends.
  5. Keep the launch window short. Five days of urgency produced 16,711 sign-ups.
  6. Make bonus copy match the points. A repost that promised better hamper odds for 10 points drew only 205 completions.
